I’m honor to have my poem Lost featured today on Poetry Breakfast.

Years ago I noticed an older gentleman looking confused on the street. I stopped to ask him if he was lost.

“These days?” he said. “Always.”

Thanks, Debbie. I know… I had an old dog that tried to ditch us in his old years. They’re always ready to go before we’re ready to let them go. But not Dallas! He has too many squirrels to chase!

I enjoyed reading this; it’s a finely crafted poem throughout – but I think that penultimate stanza about the childhood dog suddenly takes the reader to a deeper emotional level.

What a lovely poem. It reminds me of what is important. The little things–and people–I come into contact with. At this time of thanksgiving, I am thankful for your lovely poetry. It often surprises me. I continually am excited when I first see one of your poems.
